Custom Bunk Beds

Project manager Dylan Eastman says the four custom bunk beds include fairly traditional construction, with mortise, tenons and cross pins for an authentic look and feel. The materials for the bunk beds came from the West Virginia shop of Mark Bowe from DIY Network’s Barnwood Builders.

Stylish Sconces

The four colorful light sconces with adjustable arms by the bunk beds can be controlled from the light switch on the wall or operated from the bunk. The color of the sconces offer good contrast for the natural tones of the barnwood used in this space.

Cozy Spaces

While the bunk beds offer the chance for late night gab sessions, each of the four little nooks where the beds are located also provide a sense of coziness.

Multi-Purpose Ottomans

The bunk room’s three extra-large round ottomans upholstered in different colors and patterns include storage space inside. “They’re sort of like a fun landing spot for kids if they’re playing the Xbox or whatever,” says designer Elizabeth Demos. “They’re also great for storing toys or extra blankets.”

Not Fully Vertical

The wide ship-style ladder that offers access to the two top bunk beds sits at an angle, making it more safe and user-friendly than a ladder positioned straight up.
