Chad and Jenn are a husband and wife contractor/design team who have decided to renovate their own home. They're making major upgrades and more room for baby number four. But the family of five has to relocate to a less than spacious apartment so that demolition can begin at the house. Meanwhile, Chad must get permission to take down two trees that are encroaching on the foundation before plans for the addition can move forward.
Excavation is set to begin but Chad can't leave the job site to pick up the permits. Randy is M.I.A. and Chad is forced to call on Jenn for help. She gives an inexperienced Jordan his first design assignment while she picks up the permits. Work eventually begins on the foundation and they are finally able to break ground.
The house is gutted and wide open and it's time for Jenn and Chad to figure out how to fill the space. But they soon come to an impasse as Jenn requests for a wall at the front entrance to be widened, despite Chad's concerns that reworking a load-bearing wall could be a major set-back in time and budget.
Jenn and Chad debate about the design of the vanity in the master bathroom, and it seems as though Jenn has given in. The process of hanging drywall keeps everyone in good spirits, as Jordan helps Jenn plan for her and Chad's 10 year wedding anniversary.
Chad and Jenn come face-to-face with their budget and realize they are way over. They need to make some quick and creative decisions. An unexpected offer for less expensive hardwood flooring is on the table, but it's not what was in the design plan. Work at the house continues with caution, while Chad goes to his dad for help as a last resort
Chad and Jenn are put in a bind when the kids' babysitter has to leave for a family emergency. A friend recommends a nanny, but she soon quits, leaving Jenn and Chad to watch the kids. Chad and Jenn struggle to get their own work done, much less work on the renovation. Jenn hires a nanny recruiter and hopes for a good fit to help keep them, and the house, on track for move-in.
Jenn and Chad have only one week left on their apartment lease, but the house isn't ready yet. Jenn finally finds the perfect floor stain for the house, but there's not enough in stock. They're forced to make a quick decision about where to move the family for a week while work continues at the house. Meanwhile, Jenn's freinds throw her a baby shower.
Four days left till move-in and Jenn and Chad rush to get their unfinished house ready while Jenn takes on a new design client and Chad continues to run his own contracting business. Pregnant Jenn gets word from her doctor to keep herself and the baby still on move-in day. Not an easy task for an active Jenn!
Chad and Jenn work to finish the house before the baby arrives.
Jenn and Chad finally complete their major home renovation after months of hard work. Baby number four arrives, completing the family, and is welcomed into the newly renovated home. Just when things seem settled, Jenn and Chad get a surprise when their home takes the notice of a leading home design magazine who want to do a photo shoot.
