Before and Afters

Before: Gutted Kitchen

When homeowner Lea Bogdan moved into her traditional Philadelphia row home, she gutted the kitchen only to find that the foundation was crumbling and nothing was level.

After: Sophisticated and Natural

Construction expert Marc Bartolomeo comes to Bogdan's rescue, fixing her foundation and building a beautiful kitchen out of an empty shell. Dark hardwood floors, bright maple cabinets and quartz countertops create a sophisticated kitchen.

Before: Complete Remodel

Mike and Jessica are ready to move into their dream house, but their kitchen is completely demolished. They need some help to transform this empty space into the kitchen of their dreams.

After: Warm Neutrals

Marc helps the homeowners open up the kitchen and unify it with the family room by knocking down an exterior wall. Cherry cabinets are added for more storage, while the walls are painted a rich caramel color to warm up the space.

Before: Outdated Design

Vernon and Nicole Davis and their three children have lived in their house for three years. From the moment they moved in, they started ripping it apart.

After: Traditional Update

New cabinets create a traditional atmosphere and contrast well with the updated stainless steel appliances. A brick-inspired backsplash is the perfect accent to the freshly painted tan walls.

Before: Bland and Unfinished

Handy homeowner Chris Robbins and his wife, Risako, relocated to the east coast a year ago, where they bought a large fixer-upper.

After: Sleek and Modern

Marc steps in and helps the Robbins completely gut their kitchen and update it with new ceramic tile floor, white maple cabinets, a custom-built bookcase and stainless appliances.

Before: Scary Kitchen

When Michael and Teresa Cheshire thought they had found their dream home — until they saw the kitchen. They bought the house, hoping to renovate it quickly, but just never seem to have the time.

After: White Elegance

Marc turns the non-functional kitchen into a masterpiece with maple cabinets, soapstone countertops, beige field tiles on the floor and a punched plastic tin-look backsplash.

About the show

When it comes to a kitchen, renovation can literally bring down the house. Homeowners want a showplace but often end up overwhelmed, out of money and frustrated with the process of overhauling their kitchen. On DIY Network's Kitchen Impossible, carpenter and electrician Marc Bartolomeo works with homeowners to achieve the kitchen they've always wanted. But getting the job done right can mean changing plans or ripping out existing construction. Our cameras are there to capture the twists and turns that come with home improvement. In the end, Marc shows homeowners that with a little work and ingenuity, getting their dream kitchen is never impossible.
