As the guy carrying the clipboard, Robert Kulp is always the one to crunch the numbers and focus on the bottom line. In contrast to his business partner and Black Dog Salvage co-owner Mike Whiteside, Robert often uses slightly smaller tools to work on the more detailed-oriented projects of a salvage. With a degree from Virginia Tech in Building Construction, Robert is the team’s resident textbook when it comes to understanding architectural design. His extensive knowledge in structural engineering allows him to carefully and accurately dismantle pieces on a salvage.
As a former Naval Officer, Robert is all about “attention to detail” and “running a tight ship,” a source of pain and entertainment for the rest of the Black Dog crew. In his spare time, Robert can be found cheering on the Hokies, kite boarding, navigating behind the wheel of “Damn Skippy” (Mike and Robert’s vintage cabin cruiser), or simply navigating the busy schedules of his three teenage daughters.
