Not many NYC apartments have 20 foot ceilings, so the design took advantage of the height and beaux arts details in the living room of this 100-year old apartment. The existing columns were all refinished, and the walls were treated with Venetian plaster, creating a look that's both classic and modern. Motorized shades were installed, and on the balcony, the original railing was replaced with star fire glass. This has the visual effect of opening the space even more, and allowing the natural light to flow into the foyer and hallway featured on DIY Network's Million Dollar Contractor.
