Easy Summer Appetizers From the Garden
These quick, no-cooking-required garden kebobs are perfect for a last minute picnic or unexpected guests.

‘Tis the season of gardening and last minute picnics! (Fa-la-la-la-la) So here are two super-quick summer appetizers to bring to your Fourth of July festivities or, in our case, pack for a trip to the river this weekend. The best part? I found most of these ingredients right outside my back door!

You’ll need:
- watermelon, cubed
- tiny tomatoes
- a cucumber
- a block of feta cheese
- basil and/or mint
- kabob skewers
- olive oil

The first thing I did was cut off the ends of the cucumber. Then, I ran the tines of a fork down the length of it. This will take off some of the skin to make a cute pattern around the edges. (Read: This step is completely superfluous and unnecessary.)

Next, mix and match your fruits, veggie, and cheese on the skewers. Pro-tip: Put the feta between things and never on the ends. It has a tendency to crumble and needs something to hold it in place.
The last step is to drizzle a little olive oil and then top with one of the herbs. Here are the combos I used:
Skewer 1:
- tomato
- cucumber
- feta
- basil
Skewer 2:
- watermelon
- cucumber
- feta
- mint
