- 2-9 inch refrigerated pie crusts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 pounds of apples
- 17x12 inch baking sheet
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup oats
- 1/4 walnuts
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place your refrigerated pie crust on your counter and let it come to room temperature. Meanwhile, peel, core and slice the apples. In a large bowl, mix the 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and spices. Stir in apples to coat.
In a food processor, add the streusel ingredients. Pulse until the mixture is crumbly.
Lay the pie crusts, stacked one on top of the other on a lightly floured surface or on a silicone baking mat. Roll it into a rectangle that will fit into your baking sheet. If it’s not perfect, no worries. Cut off the excess around the edges and use them to fill in thin spots on the cookie sheet.
Spoon the apple mixture evenly onto the crust. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the apples. Bake 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. The filling should be bubbling and the streusel browned.
Cool on cooling rack at least 30 minutes before serving.
