Getting Started
Use lighting to define specific areas.
Hang blackout shades to block daytime glare on TV and electronic screens.
Pro Tip
Dedicate a room for games.
Spotlights or ceiling track lights can light pool or card table; use a floor lamp to light a card table.
Step 3
Creating the Game Table
Paint game table with checkerboard pattern for checkers or chess.
Apply light base coat and let dry for 24 hours.
Mark grid with T-square and painter’s tape.
Use two coats of two darker colors for squares.
When first squares are dry, cover with painter’s tape and paint even darker color on exposed squares.
Pro Tip
Square top works best, 16 by 16 inches.
After second coat, remove tape before paint dries.
Step 4
Finishing Up
Mount TV on wall swivel so you can watch it from several areas in the room.
Turn wardrobe into cabinet for electronics by taking off back and installing shelves.
Use clips to control electrical cords in the back or wind excess around organizer spool.
