Step 3
Remove Dead Grass
To repair bare spots in your lawn, you need seed, water and fertilizer. Seeding in spring and fall will give best results.
Start by removing dead grass. High sun, drought and extremes of weather can damage grass.
Use rake to loosen hard soil, especially in bare or problem spots.
Step 4
Spread Seed, Then Water
To give grass a head start, think about using an all-in-one seed, starter fertilizer and growing material.
Spread seed evenly.
Lightly water twice a day until seedlings are 2 inches high, then as needed.
Pro Tip
Newly seeded areas should be watered frequently to ensure germination.
Step 5
Fertilize the Lawn
Six weeks after seeding, begin feeding entire lawn.
To keep lawn full and strong, re-apply fertilizer about every 6 weeks. Regular application of fertilizer provides nutrients your lawn needs to look its best and withstand stresses of weeds, heat, drought and family activity.
Pro Tip
Set mower wheels on highest setting to promote deeper roots and more efficient use of water.
