Introduction
Planning a DIY wedding and looking for an alternative to disposable silverware or pricy rentals? Scout some yard sales or thrift stores to find inexpensive silverware - and don't be put off if it's mismatching. A little paint in a matching color scheme will have the set looking spectacular in no time.
Step 1

Pick Paints
According to your color scheme, purchase spray paints. Be sure to pick up a can of primer and a can of laquer, too.
Step 2

Painter's Tape
First, wash the silverware to remove any grease or debris. Securely cover all eating surfaces of the silverware with painter's tape. Ensure there are no gaps in the tape seams.
Step 3

Prime
Apply primer in two light, even coats, and then allow to dry completely.
Step 4

Paint
Apply two coats of paint in light, even coats. Again, allow to dry fully. Once the paint is fully dry, remove the painter's tape.
Step 5

Laquer
Silverware gets plenty of scratches and dings, so be sure to add a finishing layer of clear coat to protect the paint.
Step 6

Set Your Table
Imagine that – cheap silverware to wedding chic in no time flat.
