How to Make Snow Ice Cream
It's the perfect way to celebrate a snowy day at home.
Snow ice cream is a real treat and a great way to make the most of being snowed in this winter. After your kids are done cheering with glee for their snow day, recruit them to scoop up fresh, clean snow to make a delicious winter-y treat.
- 10 cups fresh, clean snow
- 1 cup sweetened condensed or regular milk
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Mix the milk, white sugar and vanilla extract together in a large bowl. If you use sweetened condensed milk, skip the white sugar. Store outside or in the freezer.
Collect 10 scoops of fresh snow. Choose clean snow that hasn’t been trudged through or dripped on. (Avoid snow that is under the gutter, pet areas or near the road or driveway). While outside (and working fast), churn the mixture and snow together with a large spoon. The mixture should not be as soft as a slushie, but should be denser than the snow outside.
Top With Sprinkles
Back indoors, scoop the snow ice cream into individual bowls or mold the snow into large snowballs for cones, and toss in a bowl filled with sprinkles until coated. Serve immediately.
