Can't find the perfect planter? Make your own with an old paint can and some paint.
Step 1

Prep and Paint Can
Remove any labels from the outside of the can and paint the entire can. Let dry.
Step 2

Mark Paint Stick
To create a plant marker from a paint stick, mark your paint stick in the center. Each stick can make two plant markers.
Step 3

Cut in Half
Use a hacksaw to cut the paint stick at the point you marked.
Step 4

Paint the Stick
Paint the paint stick piece and let dry.
Step 5

Label the Plant Marker
Write the name of the plant on the painted stick using a permanent marker.
Step 6

Pot the Plants
Fill the bottom of the paint can with wine corks or small rocks for drainage.
Step 7

Finished Garden Planter
Place your plant into the can. Let the upcycling seed take root and enjoy your new paint-can planters.
