The fun part is decorating the cake. Create the look of melted ice cream by drizzling watered-down craft paint along the sides and top of the painted box. Allow the paint to drip organically. Gather supplies for decorating the trinket box.

Once the melting ice cream is dry, attach the faux ice cream on top. Use a pompom (feel free to make your own or use a store-bought one) and attach to the top using glue. Add an ice cream cone with glue on top of the pompom. Though somewhat delicate, sugar cones are surprisingly sturdy.

Using hot glue attach small toys, key chains and other faux sweets on top of the cake box.

A small strip of sprinkles can also be added across the bottom of the box using craft glue. Apply with a sponge brush and attach sprinkles while glue is still wet.
