Last-Minute Llama and Quickie Cactus Costumes You Can Make With a Sweatsuit
Need a Halloween costume in a flash? Easily turn a sweatshirt into one of these cute, crafty costumes.
Find me a tween not obsessed with all things involving cactus and llamas — I dare you! These hot themes for Halloween costumes can be whipped up in an afternoon with the help of just a few supplies.
Both costumes start with a sweatsuit as the base. Just a few embellishments like yarn, the right headband and a few felt balls are all you need to finish off the look.
- white sweatsuit
- fabric glue
- looped white yarn
- pompoms or felt balls
- readymade ear headband
Craft store yarn comes in several different sizes and textures that can emulate the texture of a llama. Starting at the collar, trim strips of yarn to fit across the chest of the sweatsuit.
Using fabric glue, attach loops of yarn to the sweatshirt.
Continue down the entire front of the shirt. Allow to dry completely.
Embellish the neck line with pompoms or felted wool beads, attached with fabric glue.
Llama ears can be made or a readymade costume headband can be embellished with more beads, extra fur and tassels.
Send your little llama out trick-or-treating on trend!
This unisex cactus hoodie is so cute it could be worn all winter long.
- green hooded sweatshirt
- white scrubby yarn
- large-eyed needle
Using scrubby yarn (yarn with more texture), cut 4" lengths. Stitch the yarn through creating cactus needles. This could also be made no-sew with fabric glue.
Continue up onto the hood.
A floral headband and matching green leggings are optional but highly suggested to finish out the cactus look.
