Not only is this DIY Halloween project easy, it's also inexpensive. This time of year pool noodles are on sale (or better yet use the ones still floating in your pool) and festive striped socks can easily be found for a dollar. One pair of socks and one pool noodle can get you between 4-5 pieces of jumbo candy.

Cut the toes off each knee-high sock, then cut the remaining tube in half. Note: The length of socks you have will determine the length you should cut the pool noodle. Adult socks versus children’s socks will have more length.

Using a knife, cut the pool noodle into sections that are a couple of inches smaller than the sock's length. You want extra sock on each side of the cut pool noodle to tie off.

Insert the pool noodle into a sock section. The noodle should fit snuggly inside. Make sure there is a bit of excess sock on either side of the noodle.

Cover the pool noodle and sock with clear cellophane. Using a twist tie, cinch the two ends of cellophane and sock. Trim any excess so that the pool noodle looks like a piece of candy.

Additional embellishments like curling ribbon can be added to cover the twist ties.
