Blue or Pink?
Candy: What a fun way to share the news.
Step 1

Michelle Kim Photography
Create Shape Template
Draw a blocked shaped question mark on a piece of sturdy cardboard. Cut out the shape using heavy-duty scissors.
Step 2

Trace Second Piece
Use your cut out as a template to create a mirror image or second question mark.
Step 3

Michelle Kim Photography
Create Side Pieces
Cut five-inch wide, long strips from the cardboard. These strips will be used for the sides of the pinata. You might need to bend them a little to get them to lay on the curves and corners.
Step 4

Michelle Kim Photography
Tape Pieces Together
Tape the stripes to the question mark pieces to make the inside and outside of the pinata.
Step 5

Poke Holes
Cut two holes on top of the question mark for the string to hang it. Then cut two holes on the bottom to hang the dot. Make two corresponding holes in the top of the dot so it can be attached to the bottom of the question mark. The further apart you make the holes for the dot, the less it will move and turn.
Step 6

Run String Through Holes
Bring the string through the holes at the top and secure it with a square knot. Run the string through all four holes (two at the bottom of the question mark and two on the dot). Measure out the length you want the dot to hang. We used about eight inches of string, and it hangs about three inches below the question mark. Tie a square knot in the string to make it a circle.

Cut Fringe
Cutting fringes into the party streamers is the most time consuming step. To fringe, just cut slits halfway up the streamer every half inch or so. If you fold the streamers a few times, you can make multiple layers and cut through more at once.
Step 8

Glue Fringe
Start at the bottom of the pinata, apply a layer of glue in a line, and attach the fringed streamer. Before you finish the back, go to the next step.

Add Candy
Cut a flap in the back of the question mark and insert your blue or pink candy. Then, securely tape it up. Finish wrapping the question mark in the fringe streamers.
