Gentle shampoo – commonly-known oatmeal shampoo – is often recommended for dogs with sensitivities such as allergies and dry skin. Oatmeal products have become pretty mainstream, but shelling out big bucks for specialty shampoos can get tiring. Try this homemade miracle shampoo instead.

Materials and Tools:

  • 1 cup uncooked oatmeal (not instant oats)
  • sprigs of rosemary
  • 1/3 cup baking soda
  • 4 cups water
  • measuring cups
  • frying pan
  • blender
  • glass jar for storage

Steep the water and sprigs of rosemary together in the pan over low-heat for 15 minutes. Your goal is to infuse the water with the oils from the rosemary, because rosemary oil helps to moisturize dry skin. Remove the rosemary stems when it’s done. Bonus: It smells nice! Coconut oil is a great alternative for moisture and scent, if you decide to play around with the recipe.
