The beauty of marble is undeniable. Because marble is a natural stone, mostly calcium carbonate, it is vulnerable to acidic liquids and cleaners. Even a bit of lemon juice or vinegar can leave etches or blemishes on your marble countertop. To avoid this, use the most basic cleaning solution you can on your marble surfaces. Basic soap and water go a long way. Below, we share steps on how to properly sanitize your marble countertops.

What You'll Need:

  • dish soap
  • soft sponge
  • water
  • spray bottle
  • clean dish towel

Step 1: Scrub

Apply a few drops of mild dish soap and a splash of water to a clean sponge. Scrub the marble countertops vigorously using the softer side of the sponge until there is a good lather.

Step 2: Buff Dry

Rinse the sponge clean of suds, and use it to wipe the soapy lather from the countertops. Once you’ve got the soap off the counter, use a clean dish towel to buff the area dry and return it to its beautiful shine. Tip: Resand and polish as needed to remove etches and blemishes and return the marble to its original luster.
