Updated Upper Deck
The refreshed upper deck offers a flexible space off the upstairs bedrooms with a bistro table and pretty matte green chairs and a seating area with fire table for chilly evenings.
Custom Seating
Custom seating on the upper deck was created using additional parts of the same restored vintage boat hull that was used for the unique seating in the breakfast nook downstairs.
Fire Table
An ethanol burner fire table with a tiger wood base on the upper deck adds warmth for cool evenings.
Custom Design
The fire table was built out of light gauge metal studs and stucco, with the infield glass around the burners coming from leftover glass from DIY’s Blog Cabin 2015 in Idaho. A yellow citron reversible floor mat adds color and pattern underneath.
Handsome Handrail System
To improve safety and bring in a bit of a nautical boat feel, the upper deck's new handrail system includes a series of galvanized plates cut in a curve pattern with a rail that flairs out at the bottom.
Wonderful Water Views
Amazing bay views like this one can be enjoyed from the updated upper deck of DIY Network Blog Cabin 2016.
Pretty Plants
Blooming plants in containers add color and texture to the upper deck.
Logo on Display
The upper deck’s custom seating includes a DIY Network Blog Cabin logo that was integrated into the design.
Beautiful Bistro Set
A cup of coffee and tasty croissant can be enjoyed from the upper deck's black metal bistro table.
Safety and Style
The updated cable rail system on the upper deck provides safety, but also allows views to be enjoyed when homeowners or guests are seated.
Selection of Succulents
Potted small succulents add a touch of nature and texture to the upper deck.
Color Contrast
The neutral window and door frames and trim provide nice contrast for the home's soothing slate blue siding.
Lovely Lights
Lights strung above the upper deck provide a pleasing glow during the evening hours.
Accessible Deck
The upper deck is easily accessible from the adjoining bedrooms thanks to large glass sliding doors that allow light, views and cool breezes inside.
