Jake and Joel Moss turn a blank slate yard into an artsy pub inspired by the homeowners' love for beer and giraffe art. The existing garden is expanded and terraced up the slope, and a concrete patio creates entertaining space with colorful groundcover softening the look. Privacy walls bring in shade and a modern wood slat backdrop for the bar, which is dressed up with a metal giraffe art panel. Along the back wall a large Japanese maple becomes a focal point flanked with wood benches and large giraffe-print mosaics made from bottle caps.
