Delightful Dining Room

A handsome upcycled wood table with six upholstered chairs sits center stage in the rustic but refined dining room, a welcoming space that combines comfort with style.

Attractive Area Rug

The Moroccan shag rug that anchors the dining area adds pattern and provides cushion over the dining room floor.

Custom Dining Table

The dining table was made using oak flooring from the existing home laid in a diamond pattern for the top, paired with a set of four industrial-strength brushed stainless steel hairpin legs with leveling feet and a midcentury modern feel.

User-Friendly Beverage Station

A beverage station that makes it easy for both the host and guests to enjoy a dinner party or weekend brunch sits on the maple butcher block top of the lower pantry cabinets.

Local Flavor

Canoe paddles that decorate the back wall of the dining room are a nod to Lake Champlain. The oars were leftover pieces from the Adirondack chairs built for the home's lower deck, spray painted to mimic some of the colors used throughout the house.

Beautiful Beams

The exposed wood beams in the dining room ceiling coordinate with the beams in the adjacent kitchen and add architectural interest to the space.

Striking Table Top

The top of the dining table has eye-catching detail, thanks to the original oak flooring from the house that was cleaned and used to build the top of this custom project piece of furniture. A matte polyurethane helps protect the surface.

Pretty Pantry Wall

The white painted pantry wall cabinets built on site from furniture-grade plywood with maple fronts and banding are another DIY Network special project, providing extra storage for the kitchen and dining area.

Luminous Light

A bronze chandelier with multiple clear glass orbs above the dining table complements the custom multi globe pendant over the island in the adjoining kitchen.

Comfortable Temperatures

Part of the home’s easy-to-install ductless system, a wall unit that offers heating and cooling keeps the dining room at a comfortable temperature.

Easy-Access Storage

The cabinets on the pantry wall offer easy-access storage for dry goods, with shelves inside that include glass jars and open baskets that make it easy to find items quickly.

Colorful Surprise

A bright blue used on the inside back wall of the upper pantry cabinets adds unexpected color that mimics the sky and water outside this lake retreat. The blue color also makes the blonde storage shelves in the pantry pop.

Expanding Shelf

A three-tier bamboo expanding shelf maximizes space and offers user-friendly storage for jars of spices for making gourmet at-home meals for family and friends.

Butcher Block Countertop

Surrounded by light cabinets, the pantry area's maple butcher block countertop adds warmth and offers space for a beverage station or buffet for large gatherings.

Tucked Away Microwave

A stainless microwave and basket with snacks sit hidden away behind pantry doors, to help the dining area maintain a clean look.

Dramatic Drapes

Flowing drapes add warmth to the dining room windows, provide privacy when desired and block out sun during especially warm days.

More Natural Light

A window placed high where the center beam meets the vaulted ceiling adds more natural light inside the dining room.

Easy Entertaining

The beverage station includes the essentials for a weekend brunch or after dinner dessert by the lake. A coffee maker and espresso machine, mugs in a two-tiered organizer made of galvanized steel, a blue and white ceramic bowl for sugar cubes and white cookie jar filled with sweet treats sit ready for guests.

Catch A Favorite Show

A wall-mounted flat screen TV allows favorite DIY Network and HGTV shows to be enjoyed while eating or preparing meals.

Cool Drinks

A stainless steel beverage center with see-through glass door and chrome shelves under the counter keeps favorite wines, beers and specialty drinks cool.

Fetching Floor

The dining room’s wood-look gray oak porcelain tile floor has a pleasing weathered look that complements the wood finishes and gray undertones used in the space and throughout this lake retreat.

Connected Space

This dining room made for sharing meals with family and friends enjoys an easy connection with both the open kitchen and the home's welcoming living room.
