Colorful and Cozy Den

A dark window sash provides contrast for the warm white walls and ceiling of the inviting den, with pops of color and comfortable furniture for casual entertaining.

Game Time

Friends and family can enjoy a bowl of popcorn while playing board games around the den's large round cocktail table and comfy queen sleeper sofa.

Rustic Chic Cocktail Table

The round 48-inch cocktail table with glass top includes a rustic base that resembles a stump of petrified wood that could be found at the bottom of a lake. “We went with a round table, so it doesn’t impede traffic flow,” says Jami Supsic, Home Director for HGTV Magazine.

Durable Floor

The den's attractive gray oak porcelain tile floor offers the rich look of wood with the easy-to-clean performance of tile.

Pattern Play

Abstract art in silver frames decorate the wall above the sofa and add another touch of pattern to the den.

Pillows That Pop

A mustard yellow and white throw pillow and a denim blue and white throw pillow with bold patterns add color and comfort to the sofa.

Double Duty Tables

Square end woven trunks crafted from rattan with leather and antique brass hardware flank each side of the sofa. The trunks open up with storage space inside for blankets and bedding. The trunks also offer a place to rest drinks and the tall midcentury-style ceramic lamps that illuminate the space.

Personalized Temperature Control

A remote control for the den's wall-mounted unit that provides cooling and heating allows adjustable control for optimum comfort. The wall unit is part of the home’s easy-to-install and energy-efficient ductless system.

Colorful and Comfy Sleeper Sofa

The den’s queen sleeper sofa in navy blue with zoned cushion seating helped inspire the room’s color palette. The comfy sofa can be used for watching a favorite film or as an extra bed for weekend guests.

Collective Touches

A selection of books gives overnight guests options for bedtime reading. A white vase in a fun shape sits ready for fresh flowers.

Pops of Color

A fuchsia pink throw pillow with rusty red tassel and an orange and white throw pillow add more color and comfort to the sofa.

Take a Seat

The den’s two accent chairs with sculpted curves and cozy cushioning are covered in a forgiving neutral fabric. “It’s not so stark white that it shows stains, so it holds up to heavy use,” says Jami Supsic, Home Director for HGTV Magazine.

Extra Comfort

The blue and white lumbar pillows on the two accent chairs match the decorative blue and white pillow on the sofa, but in a size and shape that adds extra back support.

Bold Doorway Design

Glass swing double doors allow fresh air inside and lead to the lower deck with grilling area just outside the den. Vertically-striped orange and white drapes installed high on a track system help the den feel taller and block out light for watching TV or a movie.

Must-Have Accent Wall

A deep navy accent wall in the den includes framed botanical prints and graphic art that surrounds a flat screen TV and entertainment console, to make the TV feel like a part of a gallery wall.

White and Bright

The framed botanical prints and graphic art surrounding the flat screen TV and entertainment console have white frames that pop against the deep navy blue accent wall.

Stylish Storage

The entertainment console includes two sliding doors with one adjustable shelf behind each for storage of board games and TV equipment.

Touch of Greenery

Books and accessories decorate the top of the entertainment console, along with a potted plant that helps bring the outdoors inside.

Mirror, Mirror

A large sunburst mirror with rattan frame on the wall reflects the view of the lake and brings more natural light inside the den.

Posh and Practical Area Rug

A 100 percent wool rug with pattern and contrasting colors helps hide dirt and anchors the den’s seating area. The rug also offers cushy comfort over the den’s gray oak porcelain tile floor.
