For over 20 years, Tom Silva has provided expert advice to home enthusiasts as part of America’s favorite home improvement team on This Old House and, more recently, on Ask This Old House and Inside This Old House. He first began renovating as a child, tackling a two-year overhaul of his family’s 1787 Colonial home with his father and brother. Later, he founded Silva Brothers Construction with his brother Richard and his nephew Charlie. He and his crew were named general contractors for This Old House after being discovered by the show’s creator while they were restoring an 1845 Greek Revival-house. Tom has contributed to Complete Remodeling and Complete Landscaping, published by This Old House Books and Sunset Books in 2004, and the Homeowner’s Manual, published by This Old House Books in 2000. He also serves on the editorial board for This Old House magazine, published by This Old House Ventures, Inc.
