When a contractor failed to finish the construction of his childhood home, six-year-old Harlan, Kentucky, native Tim Borntrager pitched in to help his father complete the build over the next six years. As an adult, he spent years creating and handling props for commercials and theater and served as technical director for Collaboration Theater Company, but he eventually returned to his home improvement roots. While doing freelance construction and carpentry work, he honed his skills as a metal worker, furniture re-builder and an avid creative recycler. After traveling the world, Tim earned a degree in Fine Art. He showcases his creative talent on DIY Network’s series From Junky to Funky.
