About the show

What if you gave a couple of landscape professionals 48 hours to completely redo a backyard? No problem, right? But there's a catch. What if they don't even get to see the yard until the day before the job, and were not allowed to meet the homeowner? On DIY Network's Yardcore, landscape professionals Jake and Joel Moss are ready to set homeowners up with the yard of a lifetime, and take on all the challenges of making it happen. They will only get a quick tour of the yard and a five-minute tour of the home's interior to get clues, and then make it all happen in 48 hours — without ever meeting the homeowner until the final reveal! For one lucky homeowner willing to take a chance, this could be like winning the landscape lottery. Yardcore is a landscaping series that makes the impossible possible!

Jake and Joel Moss upgrade a blank space backyard into an entertainer's paradise. A massive fireplace made from a reclaimed diesel gas drum and concrete warms things up with seating on either side. A circular redwood deck floats on top of the new sod creating a lounge area with custom redwood chairs. To top it off, a new concrete patio is poured to house a metal and redwood pergola with a bar below accented by decorative tin tiles.

Upscale Wine Lodge

With one family member having recently returned from being deployed overseas and another caring for a young child, Jake and Joel shoot for a low maintenance, high usability yard that reflects the homeowner's love for wine and weaponry. The yard's focal point is an elegant water feature built out of sliced wine bottles and a burgundy barrel catch basin. A wine bar skinned with gun-blue sheet metal is surrounded by reclaimed fence boards arranged in a random quilted pattern and adorned with antlers to kick up the wild game appeal. The refurbished PVC deck is the perfect spot to take in the whole yard while toasting the peaceful, alluring new yard.

A Taste of Tuscany

Five minutes inside this home give the Moss Brothers all the information they need to transform a huge empty expanse into a lovely slice of Tuscan inspired hillside. Jake and Joel easily identify the family of three young boys who love to fish and a mom and dad with a penchant for Italian design to draw inspiration for this dream backyard. The landscape includes a sun-baked flagstone pathway leading to an open pergola held up by beefy iron pillars. This destination is adorned with a huge country table, sturdy douglas fir chairs with metal fish skeleton backs, and a sheer descent water wall cascading into a re-purposed iron basin. Rounding out the serene scene are plantings of large olive trees, Italian cypress, and two large lawns.
