After paying a contractor to build a second story addition on their home, homeowners Don and Peggy are left with nothing but a bad shell. The contractor ripped off their roof and took off to Europe, leaving the inside of their home exposed to heavy rains for six days. The basement is destroyed and has become a breeding ground for mold, dry rot and is now home to the biggest nest of ants Mike has ever seen. When things seemed like they couldn't get any worse, Mike is forced to deliver more bad new to the family: everything needs to go, including all of their belongings. The entire layout is re-designed, structure must be reinforced, and Mike closes in on making it right for this family.

The house is littered with health and safety hazards, from mold infestation and animal carcasses, to rotted floor joists and illegal plumbing. Mike takes it all on to give this family a fresh start.
