Unique to this build are the specially engineered window frames Nathan must design to keep out Vog, or volcanic air pollution, that Austin is severely allergic to. Complete with romantic western touches and a custom farmhouse table as a wedding gift to the couple, this truly is a Love Yurt.

It is smooth sailing back at the Tolers' workshop as they begin sewing fabric walls and building out a tiny kitchen, but when it comes time to assemble the yurt at the build site, they're hit with massive downpours and construction mishaps. Chris crashes his neck of the woods when he ambushes in Cape Cod and finds Christine & her boyfriend Chris, whose large yard and upper deck are both completely plain. Chris adds a large built in deck planter box for the flowers that Christine loves and adds a built in barbecue, grill prep area and wood plank bar, along with a dining table. The ugly deck spindles are replaced with nautical rope, and down below Chris adds a large flagstone patio with stone fire pit and four Adirondack chairs. Using that for inspiration, Chris comes up with a mountain retreat design that starts with covering up her existing concrete pad with natural stone, and building a wood privacy screen to block out her neighbor's huge RV. He adds a large ledgestone water feature as well as a big wooden deck topped with a custom made dining table. He uses boulders to define a fire pit area and adds large redwood trees, cedars and ferns. Finally, he turns a ski lift chair into a comfy swing and surrounds it with lush landscaping.

But when everyone's gathered, it's crowded and the noise level is a nightmare. Designer/contractor Chip Wade wants to relocate the kids when they entertain, give Jennifer a home office to replace the small nook she's using upstairs, and spruce up the backyard. Chip restructures this house by building a home office/den from an existing patio structure, creates custom built-in seating to open up the flow, and cuts through the concrete wall for access to the new outside BBQ area.
