Episode 609

Jessica Bolton and friend Caya have tackled their fair share of DIY projects throughout the house, but it all ends in the kitchen. The pair wants a place to entertain their friends, but the current setup has made it impossible. And since the kitchen is in the basement, they're worried they'll have a hard time getting full-size appliances into the space. They also are dealing with water damage and very old floors. Marc will help the ladies pour a cool concrete floor and move the old appliances out while figuring out how to load in a full-size range and refrigerator. Plus, they'll install floating shelves for the bar area.

Andy and Shannon's living room is the largest room in the house yet they never seem to use it. The room's poor lighting and terrible layout are just a couple of problems that make this room less than desirable in which to entertain. Flux combines their signature bent metal organic-style with reclaimed barn wood to create an entertainment center with decorative accent shelving. To create better flow between the living room and connected dining room, the guys add a see-through fireplace clad with blue stone that also adorns the nearby walls. Atop the fireplace sits an organic-style candelabra, creating one giant work of art. As a focal point in the room, Flux adds a one-of-a-kind "tree" table with glass top. Additionally, track lighting, a brighter paint job and a sectional sofa make this room the couple's new favorite spot in the house.

Tac and Dana's living room-and-dining-room combo was designed for entertaining, but the cold décor is a party crasher. The Mega Dens crew constructs a massive built in with sliding bookshelf units to elegantly hide a rocking media center and creates more square footage in the dining area by building a banquette seat with clever storage underneath. The couple falls in love all over again with the first piece of furniture they ever bought when Anitra strips it down and repaints it bright teal. A new dining table is built from 300-year-old timbers, and the chairs are given a hot pink coat, much to Tac's dismay. The kids use squirt guns to whip up a work of art, and the team uses flexible rubber molding to dress up a dull ceiling. The end result is a space that's still classy enough to be the living room, but fun and inviting enough to now live up to the name.
