An integral part of the This Old House team since the show’s 1979 debut, Richard Trethewey more recently joined the teams for Ask This Old House and Inside This Old House. In 1978, the founder of the show called Richard’s father, proprietor of Trethewey Bros. Inc., the family plumbing and heating business, with an idea for a home improvement show. After one season, Richard took over his father’s role as the show’s plumbing and heating expert. He is a licensed master and journeyman plumber, president of the manufacturer’s representative company RST Inc., and a member of the editorial board for This Old House magazine, published by This Old House Ventures, Inc. He has contributed to a number of This Old House books, and in 1994, he authored This Old House Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
