After spending an August day digging Bermuda grass from his father’s vegetable garden, Paul James admits he once hated garden. But since that sweaty day, he has come a long way. Now known as The Gardener Guy, Paul has hosted, written, produced and shot the HGTV series Gardening by the Yard almost entirely in his own backyard since 1996. He studied botany, plant physiology and plant pathology in college but didn’t begin gardening until 1978 when he and his wife bought their first home. He obtained his master gardener certification in 1983, but before entering the world of television, he owned and operated a corporate communications company specializing in corporate comedy. Paul shares his genius and his love for cooking on DIY Network’s Paul James’ Home Grown Cooking.
