Penny Mac Hydrangea(8 of 9)

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac'

  • Deciduous shrub with blue or pink mophead flowers up to 4 inches wide

  • Plant in moist, but well-drained soil

  • Plant in morning sun or partial shade for all zones

  • Height: 4-6 feet

  • Width: 4-6 feet

Hardy in USDA zones (6)7-9:

  • Zone 6: Plant in spring or very early fall; apply extra mulch after first hard frost; cover with burlap or plastic in severe cold weather; avoid contact with salt; plant may fail to bloom if late season frosts occur; water regularly in dry spells during growing season.

  • Zone 7: Plant in early fall; cover with burlap or plastic in severe cold weather, especially in late winter; blooms may decrease if late season frosts occur; water regularly in dry spells during growing season.

  • Zone 8: Plant in early fall; blooms may decrease if late season frosts occur; water regularly in dry spells during growing season.

  • Zone 9: Plant in early fall; water regularly in dry spells during growing season.
