There are different types of lawnmowers out there. Here's some information on a few.

Old-fashioned reel mowers require some muscle to power. They are good for people with really small spaces to mow. Reel mowers have multiple blades that cut along a bed knife. It cuts like a scissors, giving you a higher quality cut. Reel mowers have a tendency to leave a better pattern on your lawn because it has a full roller behind it to lay down the grass.
Self-propelled mowers can make the job of mowing easier. Pulleys and gears connect the engine with the wheels making the self-propelled mower easier to push. Self-propelled mowers are either front wheel or rear wheel drive. Front wheel, self-propelled mowers pull the mower forward so you have to have more control over your mower if you want to go in a straight line. Rear wheel mowers are more inclined to go straight.
No matter what kind of mower you have, maintain it regularly. Regular mowing with a well maintained mower will yield success.
