To stay within budget, the homeowners opted for a pergola on the top level rather than the pricey screened-in porch they had originally hoped for. To replace the worn and weathered deck, pressure-treated wood was used as a money-friendly alternative to composite. To provide comfortable shade during the summer, maintenance-free shading fabric surrounds the lower-level lounge, as well as the top part of the pergola. Aluminum deck railings were a splurge but are a unique and high-end addition to the brand-new deck.
