After Michael Ray Wisely’s father taught him arc welding at age nine, it seemed only natural that he work alongside his father in a metal design and fabrication business. After college and a stint in the Air Force, he spent several years as a lighting technician/carpenter and then as master carpenter for the Chabot Performing Arts Center in Hayward, Calif., building sets for the award-winning Summer Musical series. More than 10 years experience with all aspects of the maintenance and care of wooden boats gave Michael Ray a unique perspective on preservation, restoration and fine woodworking techniques. In addition to his craftsman work, Michael Ray is a professional actor with 15 years experience in stage, television and film. Michael Ray applies his talents as host of DIY Network's Home Transformations.
