  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 TB coconut oil
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

You are probably wondering why in the world would you put the ingredients for pumpkin pie on your skin. Well, it smells good and all of the above ingredients are great for your skin. For starters, pumpkin is packed with vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, vitamin C, E and beta-carotene. When used topically, it promotes healthy skin and hair. Sugar is a natural humectant; it helps the skin retain moisture and gently exfoliates. Coconut oil has many benefits for the skin. In this scrub, it’s for moisturizing the skin. Lastly, cinnamon helps stimulate blood vessels and bring blood to the surface of the skin, resulting in plumper skin with a healthy glow. The best part about this body scrub it that you probably have all the ingredients sitting in your pantry.

Make sure the coconut oil is at room temperature. This will make it easier to mix. Add the ½ cup of pumpkin puree to a small bowl and mix in the room temperature coconut oil until there are no visible clumps.

This scrub is best when used immediately. It’s not the end of the world if you can’t use it right away. The sugar will dissolve and you will lose its exfoliating properties. However, it will still be an effective moisturizer.

If you are not going to use it right way, put it in an airtight container and refrigerate. Let it warm up to room temperature before use. The coconut oil will make the tub or shower slippery, so be careful and be sure to wash the surfaces with soap once you are done.
