      Great Room

    • Tranquil Cosmetic Makeover, I wanted to makeover the entire bathroom with new light fixtures, new floor tiles, new countertops, etc. But when I started adding everything up and the potentials for disaster like new sub floor, possibly breaking the mirror, new cabinets if they crumbled when taking off the counter top, I was pretty bummed but then I decided to use the paint I had from 2008 from the living room and the dark brown paint left over from the guest bedroom that already had primer in in. I was shocked that the paint from 08 was still good. All I did here was new hardware in chrome finish from Home Depot, like 1.70 each, new faucet (this was the bulk of the $250, 80 for the plumber the rest for the lovely faucet and the rugs from JCP), I stole some floor to celing drapes from the guest room and some accessories as well. I sanded down the cabinets lightly with sand paper, used TAC Cloth to clean them up and used a paint brush, no primer and only one coat of paint. I tried a roller that was recommended by a painter and I did NOT like the way it was turning out so the paint brush worked perfectly. They almost look stained when up close. It was really easy, my first time doing this. I did the entire bathroom in one day. Yeah, I would love to get rid of the box lighting but there is just no money in the budget so I had to work with what I had. I just wanted to share with those on a really tight budget what you can do for very little money. If I had not replaced the faucet, this project would have cost about $50., Bathrooms Design

    • 1975 Update, My husband and I moved about two years ago into a 1975 lake house. The people we bought the house from were the original owners and kept the house in the 1975 motif. This room originally had beige carpet and dark wood wall. We jokingly called it the Game of Thrones Room!
No we have updated the dark wood walls by antiquing the finish. We have removed the carpet and installed dark hardwood floors.
The main focal point is the large framed picture that is surrounded by salvaged lighting fixtures., Living Rooms Design

    • Chic Teen Room, Inspired by two little ceramic birds and my daughter's love of birds and nature. My daughter was about to enter high school and her room was in desperate need of a grown-up look. I used what we had on hand rather than spending all our money on furniture and pricey designer looking pieces. I hunted thrift stores and sales for fabric and decor. Using a lot of elbow grease and my imagination this is our result. I love her room and often find myself wanting to give my room another make over (which I have showcased on this site)., Girls' Rooms Design
