Many people love stainless-steel sinks for their low maintenance, but even these workhouses benefit from an occasional buffing up. Here are some ways to keep a stainless-steel kitchen sink looking brand new.

Use a cleanser made specifically for metal. Dampen a soft cloth and sprinkle some of the cleanser on it. Rub the stainless steel with the grain. After going over the entire sink with the cleanser, rinse off the excess.

For deeper scratches, use a 220-grit wet/dry sandpaper. Pour some vegetable oil onto the sandpaper, and then rub the sink with the grain.

After polishing the sink, give it a coat of automotive wax, which will make it shine and help protect it from future scratching.
