Darcy and Heidi recently found a home they love, but it needs a lot of work. Fortunately, Darcy is a very handy guy — and he's a home inspector — so he has a lot of skills that he'll use in the kitchen remodel. He's already completely torn out the old kitchen, and now host Paul Ryan is here to help create a fabulous new kitchen with a combination of rustic and contemporary elements.

In this first of four episodes, Paul meets the homeowners and their architect to discuss the plan. One of the largest projects in the kitchen — the Tasmanian oak floor — is installed. Decorative box beams are built for the ceiling and tips are given on how to select and install wood trim.
