Host Paul Ryan's mother needs a new kitchen. He and his equally handy brothers are pitching in to give their mother the kitchen of her dreams. They gut the entire space, pulling out '60s-era metal cabinets, four layers of linoleum and dingy looking white countertops. In its place a traditional kitchen with vintage charm will emerge.

In this first of three episodes, Paul and a brother tear up the old kitchen. Then they start to rebuild the kitchen from the ground up, putting in new underlayment. Using industrial grade VCT tile in two colors, they create a unique diamond pattern for the new floor.
