Contemporary — Subfloor

Episode DKTN-110

Chuck and Jenny are newlyweds who bought their 1980's home less than a year ago. They loved the way that the kitchen and family room flowed together, but knew that they wanted to update the kitchen right away.

Currently, the kitchen has white laminated cabinets with wood trim and pink countertops. The worn vinyl floor has a very a busy pattern. The function of the center island is great, but the pink countertop makes it less than attractive. So over the course of four episodes, we're going to turn this kitchen around with a soft contemporary style that gives this kitchen the update it needs.

In this episode, we go over the plan with the kitchen designer. Then we start the demolition by taking out the old cabinets, counters, appliances and vinyl floor. A new sub-floor is laid down and the walls are patched. The new cabinets are brought in to see how they fit.
