Charleston natives Ryan and Ivana Watkins are enjoying parenthood with their 20-month-old and another child on the way! This bourgeoning family will soon outgrow their modest home with its small living and dining area. But with a pond view and ample space, Ryan and Ivana have decided that their backyard is the perfect place to spread their southern charm and create an outdoor family room. Dean and Derek know just what to do! They start by building a circular patio on one side of their small screened-in porch and staining an existing ugly concrete slab. Next, they build a fireplace out of a simple kit and add a water fountain for tranquility. They bring in a beautiful grill and add plants-including edible plants and herbs-nearby to making cooking easy. With plenty of seating and a dining table for six, the Watkins family will have plenty of room to share their Southern hospitality.
