University of Texas soil physicist Mike Young and his wife Kathy McCaston, a humanitarian aid consultant, live in a small house in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. Kathy just started working from home. She loves the freedom but has found that with three active dogs (their "fur" kids) who demand her attention, the inside is feeling claustrophobic. It's becoming clear they need to expand. So Mike has called in Dean and Derek to build Kathy a livable outdoor space where she can relax, do her work or just watch the rain fall...without getting wet. The guys rip out an existing gas fireplace and install French doors as a grand entrance to a new outdoor office-family room, complete with an Oklahoma fossil stone patio, a sturdy roof and plush locally-made outdoor furniture.
