City planner Mike Elabarger and his wife Ally, a stay-at-home mom, recently left D.C. for Austin, Texas, in search of shorter winters and affordable housing. With their newly-expanded family, they are looking to extend their living space outdoors. Hot Texas sunshine and small yards with little privacy could have kept them indoors for good, but Dean and Derek have come up with a three-tiered roof system that will block the sun and nosy neighbors, as well as allow for airflow in the small space between their home and the garage. Plus, other additions to the space include a Texas limestone patio, outdoor grill area and oversized TV.
