Tips on Choosing a Shop Heater
Small electric heaters emit radiant heat. Make sure the coils inside the heater are clean, as dust on the coils can cause a fire. Also, this heater has a temperature control and a fan control to distribute the heat across the shop.
Some heaters are designed to hang from the ceiling. When hanging the heater, make sure to place it away from anything that might be a fire hazard. This heater will not heat the entire shop.
Propane heaters will generally heat an entire room or workshop. This type of heater works with an open flame, which is encased in the metal unit. If you use this type of heat source, be sure to check the unit for cracks or other damage before using.
Kerosene heaters have a fill tank that holds the kerosene into. You can then adjust the heat using a temperature gauge on the unit. These units will heat a room very well.
- Make sure the heater is in good condition.
- Ensure that you have enough ventilation.
- Always use the proper fuel for the unit.
- Never leave a heater unattended.
