How to Edge and String-Trim a Lawn
Follow these tips to giving your lawn a professional, manicured look.
For fast results, use string trimmer.
Always wear safety glasses, gloves, long sleeves and pants, and sturdy boots.
One secret to a beautiful lawn is regular or weekly trimming and edging.
If lawn is 1/3 acre or less, get trimmer with powerful lithium ion battery and you won’t need electrical cord or gasoline.
Position base of trimmer at 5- to 10-degree angle to ground.
Start trimmer above grass so string won’t gouge anything or cut grass too close.
Use primarily tip of string.
Trim side to side so cuttings will be thrown away from you.
Dial up power for thicker overgrowth.
Switch to edging mode to edge along driveways, sidewalks, and landscaping.
