Here's an easy and inexpensive way to bring custom colors and fun patterns to your decor. We used mostly sample-sized latex paints to keep the costs down.

Step 1

Sand and Smooth

Remove the hardware from the dresser. Clean and sand the entire surface well, making sure the finish is off and it is smooth and ready for paint.

Step 2

Apply Base Coat

Apply two coats of a base paint to the dresser. Let the first coat completely dry before applying the second.

Paint Drawers

Apply two coats of a base paint to the drawers. Let the first coat of paint dry before applying the second.

Outline Chevron Pattern

When the paint is completely dry, use a triangle and a ruler to draw the arrow stripes on the face of each drawer. Draw a horizontal line in the center of the drawer face. Then place the top point of the triangle on that line and trace the lines to the top and bottom of the drawer face.

Step 5

Paint Pattern

Use a small paintbrush to outline the first color and then use a slightly larger paintbrush to fill in the color. We painted ours freehand, but painter’s tape can be used to ensure straight lines. Let the first coat of paint dry before applying a second coat.

Give It Some Flair

While the paint on the first drawer is drying, start on the next one. To get the staggered look, draw the lines in the opposite direction.
