Get Started

With only two days to finish a massive three room renovation at the core of Blog Cabin 2014, Jason Cameron and the Sledgehammer crew prebuilt this boat shelf in Jason's woodshop prior to arriving. To begin, the back is cut from birch veneer plywood and 2x2 ribs are added with pocket screws.

Next, the hardboard is added to the exterior for a planked look.

Add Finishing Touches

Lastly, wood trim and shelves are added and stained dark walnut while the hull is painted Riverway blue. Here, Blog Cabin host Chris Grundy, lead builder Jed Hadley, and Jason set the boat shelf in place in the living room.

The top shelf features yellow flowers that tie into the citrus-inspired colors. Meanwhile the blue vase and rope knot anchor it back to the boat.

Create a Lake Vibe

Although this boat is not going anywhere near water, the bottom shelf life preserver and wall oars keep an element of action in the room.
