Introduction

Make sure you have chosen a bin that will fit your kitchen units. Depth is very important, as it tends to vary more than height.

Step 1

Position Bin Frame

Remove any shelving from the cabinet to allow for installation of the recycling bin. Position the bin frame on the floor of the cabinet, so it is central to the door opening. Observe any supplier's guidelines on positioning.

Step 2

Screw Frame

Screw the frame in place — normally into the cabinet floor, but some designs may require securing to the back, or sides of the cabinet.

Place Bins

Fit the bins into the frame — they tend to be the same size, and usually consist of two or three separate bins. Fit the lid in place. Sometimes, the lid may be attached to the door to allow it to open automatically when the cabinet is opened.

Replace Shelving

Replace any shelving if the bin height allows (in this example, the bin is on runners and can be pulled forward to allow the lid to be lifted). If there is not enough space between the shelf and the bin, the shelf brackets can be raised to create space.
