Chisel or scrape old grout from around damaged tile. With hammer and chisel, chip out broken tile. Wear safety goggles when chipping tile.
Take part of broken tile to store to match to new tile. If tile is no longer available, find companion tile and remove several old tiles to form decorative pattern of new tiles.
Thoroughly, clean exposed floor. If floor is uneven or loose, screw it to joists below.
With a notched trowel, spread adhesive on back of new tile.
Press tile into place. Use spacers to keep tile equidistant from surrounding tiles.
Check tile for level.
Let adhesive dry.
Insert grout into joints and smooth joints.
Let grout dry and wipe off excess with sponge.
After 24 hours, apply grout sealer.
