Designed by Robert Hursthouse, this versatile deck offers three different types of entertaining areas, depending on the weather: a gathering spot around the fire pit, a deck for sunny afternoons and an enclosed gazebo.
Private Play Space
Whether it's for roasting marshmallows with the kids or grown-up entertaining, the fireplace often becomes the outdoor gathering spot for this family. Designed by landscape architect Mark Schisler.
Designed Around an Oven
The focal point of the new kitchen is a wood-fired pizza oven imported from Italy. The 36-inch oven turned out to have a 52-inch base, so landscape architect Mark Schisler had to move the counters three feet to accommodate it.
Built by designer Shane LeBlanc, this open-air cabana is the headquarters for outdoor grilling and dining for a large family. The kitchen area's countertop was custom-made on site and hand-colored to replicate real stone.
Landscape designer Gelinda Backman was charged by the homeowners with the task of incorporating "enchanted" and "ancient" aspects into the makeover of this backyard. A dining terrace and fire pit surrounded by stone walls are focal points.
Roman Gardens Style
Landscape designer Derrick Meek camouflaged the retaining walls in this backyard with trees. The back door of the house leads to an oversized entertainment patio and an even larger pool.
